Let me back up and fill you in on what has been going on the past few days so you understand why I'm laying on the couch all day(I promise I'm NOT a couch potato!!)
I had knee surgery last Wednesday on my right knee. To be specific I had a Lateral Retinacular Release. Try saying that 5 times fast...or better yet when the doctor and every nurse is asking you as you are being drugged and going under anesthesia. I went to the Knee Doc at the beginning of January because I have had knee problems off and on since high school, but usually only occasionally and when I was working out doing certain things. During December, my knees started hurting every time I would work out and then for the rest of the day when I was at work. Not good. So the Dr. did x-rays, an MRI, put me on a special diet, etc. The diagnosis is that I have a little bit of arthritis in both knees and the ligaments on the outsides of both knees are too tight and pulling my kneecaps off center and causing them to grind against the other bone. It made this lovely "crunchy" noise every time I would take a step or straighten/bend my leg. Sounds kind of like rice krispies. Fun!
So I had the right one fixed on Wednesday and have been off work and recuperating since then. I'm not sure if it is the pain pills or the anesthesia wearing off, or my body just reacting to the trauma, but I have been ridiculously tired and nauseous for the last few days. So my food that I have posted and possibly for the next few days does not represent my regular eating.
I am not in a lot of pain and will be doing half days back at work starting tomorrow and PT twice a week for the next 3 weeks at least. My knee is very swollen and bruised. It looks like Nancy Kerrigan's knees after Tanya Harding had a go at them.
WARNING!! Below is a picture of my knee post surgery...don't say you haven't been warned!
The hardest part about this is that I usually work out everyday. No, really, EVERY DAY. I am one of those sick people who love working out in the morning and can't function if I don't work out. So this is a whole new experience for me being forced to not workout. I feel...squishy. And it is not helping my efforts to shed a few pounds. But I keep trying to remind myself that I just have to get through this(oh, and I have to have the other one done!) and then I will be able to work out pain-free. What a concept! I think I forgot what that was like!
So that's my story about where I am at and will be recovering for the next 4-8 weeks. The good news is that I finally had time to get my bloggity-blog started!

thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm sorry to hear your frustration about your knee, I had minor foot surger a few summers ago and I thought I'd go crazy sitting on the couch!
